Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Bayron Matos was injured at the end of practice Wednesday and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, a team spokesperson told the The Athletic.

The Dolphins did not disclose details about Matos’ injury but said he was in stable condition. Multiple reports said Matos was airlifted to a medical facility.

The Dolphins signed Matos as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He was delegated to the practice squad last season.

Matos played three seasons of Division I basketball between New Mexico and South Florida. At USF, Matos walked on to the football team with no prior experience. He initially worked at defensive end before moving to the offensive line. He saw action in just two games, primarily on special teams.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Matos was part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program, designed to give opportunities to foreign players. At 6-foot-7, 334 pounds, Matos ran an impressive 4.88 40-yard dash at his pro day.
