The Wimbledon 2024 tennis tournament will be held at the iconic All England Club in London, Great Britain, from July to 14.

Set to be the 137th edition of the Wimbledon Championships, the oldest Grand Slam on the tennis calendar will see some of the top players from around the world in action.

Alex de Minaur, ninth in world tennis rankings, will spearhead the Australian men’s singles challenge at this year’s Wimbledon.

There will be 11 Australian tennis players in the men’s singles main draw at Wimbledon this year, making it the country’s largest contingent in the category since 2015.

The ninth-seeded Alex de Minaur, who won an ATP grass-court title at ‘s-Hertogenbosch earlier this month, starts his sixth Wimbledon campaign against compatriot James Duckworth.

Alex Bolt, who produced an incredible run in the qualifying event, faces world No.8 Casper Ruud in the opening round. Chris O’Connell and Thanasi Kokkinakis have also been pitted against top-20 opponents in the first round.

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, will be the third seed in men’s singles this year. Last year’s finalist and seven-time champion Novak Djokovic is the second seed while Italy’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner is the top seed this year.

Rafael Nadal is sitting out the competition to focus on the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Fresh from contesting her first WTA final in more than five years, the resurgent Ajla Tomljanovic, a quarter-finalist in her past two Wimbledon appearances, is among three Australians in the women’s singles main draw this year.

World No. 82 Daria Saville, meanwhile, is the best-ranked Aussie woman in the singles competition, where world No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland will be on the hunt for her maiden Grand Slam on grass.

USA’s Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka are the second and third seeds, respectively while Czechia’s Markéta Vondroušová, the defending champion, is billed sixth.

World No. 1 Matthew Ebden and India’s Rohan Bopanna are the second seeds in men’s doubles behind the Spanish-Argentine duo of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

The Ebden-Bopanna pair has won 18 of their last 21 Grand Slam matches, which includes a semi-final run at the All England Club last year and an Australian Open triumph this year.

Max Purcell, who partnered fellow Aussie Ebden to win the Wimbledon men’s doubles title in 2022, will be the 15th seed this year along with another countryman Jordan Thompson.

Another all-Australian pair, Rinky Hijikata-John Peers, has been pitted against British brothers Andy and Jamie Murray in the opening round.

World No.9 Ellen Perez will lead the Australian charge in the women’s doubles with American partner Nicole Melichar-Martinez. The third-seeded pair made it to the quarter-finals in 2022.

The mixed doubles draw for Wimbledon 2024 isn’t out yet.
