Cameron Green stole the spotlight in Mackay with a blistering unbeaten 118 from just 47 balls, powering Australia to a record-breaking 276-run win over South Africa in the third and final ODI.

With the series already lost, Australia responded in style by piling on 431-2 — their highest one-day total on home soil. Openers Travis Head (142 off 103) and Mitchell Marsh (100 off 106) laid the perfect platform with a record 250-run stand, before Green unleashed a whirlwind innings that included three consecutive sixes off Senuran Muthusamy. It was his maiden ODI century and the second-fastest in Australian history, behind only Glenn Maxwell’s 40-ball effort.

South Africa never recovered in their chase, collapsing to 155 all out as spinner Cooper Connolly claimed 5-22.

For Green, the innings marked a breakthrough moment in his one-day career. “The two openers batted beautifully so me and ‘Kez’ (Alex Carey, unbeaten on 50) could play with freedom,” he said afterwards.

The victory ended the series 2-1 to South Africa, but Green’s fireworks ensured Australia closed on a high — and offered a glimpse of just how destructive he can be in the middle order.
