Coco Gauff's latest Wimbledon exit once again denied her entry to the 'Last 8 Club'

American tennis star Coco Gauff made a surprise departure from Wimbledon in the first round of this year's competition. And it means she has once again been denied lifelong tickets to the Grand Slam after suffering similar disappointment last year. Gauff, 21, made an unexpected early exit on Tuesday when she suffered a straight-sets defeat to Dayana Yastremska, not long after the match had been removed from Centre Court. That extended her struggles at SW19, where she is still yet to advance beyond the fourth round in six career attempts. Last year, it was billionaire heiress Emma Navarro who knocked her out at the stage and prevented her fellow American from attaining Wimbledon tickets for life. That's because anyone who reaches the quarter-finals of the major is guaranteed the perk, including access to hospitality suites once they retire. Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Not that Gauff is likely to struggle in affording Wimbledon access anytime soon, but it underlines the extent of her struggles at SW19. The Atlanta-born superstar has reached the fourth round of Wimbledon on three occasions but is yet clinch membership in the 'Last 8 Club'. Navarro, meanwhile, banked a quarter-final spot in just her second appearance at the major last year before she was ousted by eventual runner-up Jasmine Paolini. And this year's 10th seed is still in the running to better that feat in 2025 after beating Petra Kvitova, who played her last Wimbledon match on Tuesday. Again, Navarro is highly unlikely to struggle in affording Wimbledon tickets at any point in her life. On top of her tennis earnings, the South Carolina resident is in line to inherit a massive fortune from billionaire parents Ben and Kelly. Money magnate Ben founded Credit One Bank and is the chief executive officer of Sherman Financial Group, which has seen him amass a net worth of £3.5billion, according to Forbes. That makes Navarro the second-wealthiest on the WTA Tour behind Jessica Pegula, whose father terry is believed to be worth around £5bn.

Navarro, meanwhile, is through to the second round for the second straight year

Like Jessica, however, Emma has a number of siblings with whom she'll have to split any share of her inheritance. That being said, both tennis stars are doing just fine building their own nest eggs on the court. She also won the US Open on home soil in 2023, while she also made it to the last four of the Australian Open last year. Mirroring that success on grass continues to confound the youngster to date, however. And the coveted lifelong membership at Wimbledon remains out of her grasp for at least another year as a result of her latest early exit.
