Man United get perfect Nicolas Jackson swap opportunity that Ruben Amorim will loveManchester United transfer news as Nicolas Jackson emerges as a surprise transfer target for Ruben AmorimNicolas Jackson is one of the strikers on Manchester United's radar (Image: FIFA via Getty Images )Manchester United's transfer business has gone from the possibility of being a disaster to gathering pace at rapid speed in the last week. This time last week, the reception surrounding United's work in the market had reached boiling point. Despite signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for his £62.5million release clause early in the window and adding another young talent in Diego Leon, United had hit a wall. Two bids for Bryan Mbeumo had been unsuccessful after over a month of negotiations. Fears that United would have to either walk away or overpay for their top target were clear as day at the start of the week but Newcastle's move to sign Yoanne Wissa seemed to kick them into gear.On Friday, United and Brentford came to an agreement worth £71m for Mbeumo and the forward has since completed his medical. He's expected to travel to Chicago on Tuesday with his new teammates for the club's participation in the Premier League Summer Series. The priority, in terms of incomings, will be getting a striker to the club. Viktor Gyokeres doesn't seem to be a realistic target, despite reports from Portugal suggesting an agreement was close, with the Sporting CP star set to join Arsenal. There have been a list of potential targets linked with United in the past fortnight, some more popular than others. But while the priority in the market is to sign a new striker, the Reds still face selling players to raise funds. Marcus Rashford is set to join Barcelona and Jadon Sancho is a wanted man. However, Alejandro Garnacho, arguably the club's biggest asset available, is still at the club and a move doesn't appear to be close. The winger has been linked with moves to Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Napoli this summer. Chelsea are understood to be keen with the possibility of a swap deal that would have seen Christopher Nkunku move to Old Trafford previously touted.United were once said to value Garnacho at £70m but that figure will be difficult to achieve for a number of reasons. Any fee brought in would be classed as pure profit in terms of profit and sustainability rules. The longer the window plays out without an exit, United will have to consider every possible option. One of them is agreeing a deal of some capacity that would see Garnacho move to Stamford Bridge and Nicolas Jackson moving the other way. It's understood that United have held preliminary talks over a move for the 24-year-old, who has scored 30 goals in 81 games for Chelsea. The summer arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap have left Jackson's future in doubt and a move to Manchester could be one of the plays. It may be a signing that fans inside Old Trafford scoff at but after missing out on Gyokeres and being faced with a hefty fee for Benjamin Sesko, a move for a player like Jackson makes sense with no European football and possible concerns over how much money is left in the transfer budget. And if they can offload a player who isn't in Amorim's plans by improving their own forward line then happy days. It may not be the premium and luxury striker that would have been preferred earlier in the window but killing two birds with one stone to allow more focus on recruiting a new goalkeeper could be the perfect move. Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.Make sure you don't miss out on the latest United news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
