Bruno Fernandes has reached out to ex-Manchester United team-mate Paul Pogba as he continues to look for a new club. After Juventus terminated his contract last year, the French midfielder is a free agent and has served his ban for a failed doping test. The 31-year-old was initially hit with a four-year suspension by the Italian Anti-Doping National Triunal after he tested positive for non-endogenous testosterone. However, that was later reduced to 18 months, clearing him to return to training in January 2025 and start playing in March. Despite links to clubs in Saudi Arabia, the 2018 World Cup winner remains a free agent.

He’s now taken to Instagram to underline his desire to return to professional football. Pogba posted a picture of himself at an athletics track, showing off his muscular frame to his 62.8million followers. Fernandes, who spent two years alongside Pogba at Old Trafford before the Frenchman returned to Turin, responded to the post. He wrote “Beast mode activated” and added an ‘on fire’ emoji to underline his support.

Pogba remains United’s record signing, having arrived in a £89million deal from Juve in the summer of 2016. He played a pivotal role in Jose Mourinho’s maiden season in charge, scoring in the Europa League final win over Ajax. However, his final three years with the club were plagued by injury problems, and after 2019, he failed to play 30 games in a Premier League season. Despite his eventual low-key exit, speculation has mounted this year that he could return to the club on a short-term deal.
