GAA to consider scrapping kick-out mark 50m penalty

The GAA's Ard Chomhairle is to consider a Football Review Committee proposal to adjust the punishment for a foul on a player who catches a mark from a kick-out after recent criticisms.

Currently, such a foul - for interfering with a player who has four steps after taking the mark - would consist of a 50-metre penalty with the suggested adjustment seeing the punishment becoming a free on the spot where the foul occurs.

A number of inter-county managers have spoken out against the current rule with the issue coming under the spotlight in Kerry’s recent All-Ireland group game win over Cork with Kingdom boss Jack O’Connor describing it as "ridiculous."

Elsewhere, eligibility for the All-Ireland JFC, relating specifically to London and New York, is to remain unchanged for the 2026 competition.
