Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford left teammates Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho stunned after scoring two stunning goals as FC Barcelona beat Newcastle United in the Champions League.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho were left speechless after Marcus Rashford's sensational double for Barcelona. The United loanee was key to Hansi Flick's side making a winning start in the Champions League after his second-half brace downed Newcastle United.

The Magpies' enthusiasm was wiped away after a brilliant individual performance from the England international saw him open his account for the La Liga team. The encounter was on a knife edge until a header beat Nick Pope before Rashford notched an early goal of the season contender from outside the box.

After dancing past Sandro Tonali, the 27-year-old unleashed a swirling effort into the top corner and beyond his Three Lions' teammate between the posts at St James' Park.

And the showing caught the attention of Fernandes and Sancho who both took to social media to display their shock and awe at Rashford's moments of brilliance.

The Aston Villa winger shared the opening goal to his story, tagging Rashford, captioning it with a fire and salute emoji before following up with two more emojis after his spectacular strike.

Fernandes followed suit as he shared the effort from range on social media. The Portuguese international shared two mind-blown emojis with a shocked face in between.

On commentary, ex-Scotland striker Ally McCoist was left flabbergasted by the quality of the United loanee. He said: "Deary, deary me. That's absolutely majestic.

"It's a thing of beauty. That man [Thomas Tuchel] should be applauded with the greatest respect, ah, I thought he was attempting to hit earlier... wow.

"It's just fabulous football from Rashford.

"It dips in the last minute I think, in off the underside of the bar - a fantastic goal."

It proved to be a nervy ending for the Spanish champions as Anthony Gordon reduced the arrears in stoppage time, while Rashford was denied his hat-trick in the dying embers after being replaced by Dani Olmo.
