Dan Ndoye reveals ‘quality’ Morgan Gibbs-White influence in Nottingham Forest switch

Dan Ndoye has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Nottingham Forest, joining an attack orchestrated by Morgan Gibbs-White.

Ndoye was officially announced as a Forest player on Thursday having completed his medical the day before, becoming the Reds’ third signing of the transfer window.

Ndoye’s arrival capped off a week of positivity at the City Ground, starting when Gibbs-White signed a new Forest contract to emphatically end the speculation that he may be leaving to join Tottenham.

There’s talk that Gibbs-White may be made Forest captain but even if he isn’t, the Englishman is clearly a leader in the Reds’ attack, with his influence actually helping Ndoye commit to the move.

Gibbs-White had a strong relationship with Anthony Elanga, so there’s no reason to think that he and Ndoye won’t work well together as well, supporting Chris Wood and Igor Jesus at the point.

Ndoye was excited after seeing the Forest kit for the first time, and he’s clearly looking forward to donning the Garibaldi red alongside the English talisman.

Speaking to Forest’s media team, he said: “I was already in advanced talks when I knew that he [Gibbs-White] resigned, but to have a quality player like him and others in the team, it’s always best to play with this type of quality player.”

Of course, there is quality spread right across the Forest squad and throughout the Premier League as a whole, with the standard of the league itself helping Edu and the recruitment team beat Serie A champions Napoli to Ndoye’s signature.

Napoli also made bids to sign Ndoye but it appears that the Swiss star only had eyes for Forest, having agreed personal terms with the Reds before a transfer fee had been finalised.

An ambition to play in the Premier League was at the heart of this decision, with Ndoye’s motivation to star in English football set to benefit Forest.

He continued: “One of my dreams was always to play in the Premier League. I had a good season last season, so I think it’s the best moment to arrive in the Premier League.

“The Nottingham Forest project is so ambitious […], the interest they showed in me and the moment in my career was the perfect moment to come.”

For Edu, the work continues as Nuno Espírito Santo wants to add five more signings to his squad to compete in European football. On the pitch, though, Ndoye will be hoping to bed in with his new teammates in the final three pre-season fixtures.
