Club is now ready to sell £70m Liverpool target this summer, they are looking for replacements

Liverpool’s £70m target could be on his way out of his current club this summer, with replacements already being lined up for him.

The centre-back area is one position where Liverpool will be looking to strengthen this summer.

With Joel Matip likely leaving at the end of his contract, it leaves the club’s new potential manager, Arne Slot with just four options left.

Given how many games Liverpool will have to play throughout the season, that would leave them quite vulnerable in that department. It would therefore make sense to recruit at least one more centre-back.

Especially someone who can play in the left-sided centre-back role, but can also fill in the right-sided role as well.

The latest around Liverpool’s interest in Ousmane Diomande

One player who ticks those boxes is Ousmane Diomande. The Ivorian centre-back is very versatile.

In his youth he even played as a holding midfielder, but he’s also capable of playing in the right and left-sided centre-back role, as well as right and left-back.

Only 20-years-old, the sky seems like the limit for the young defender. And it seems like his club, Sporting CP, are already preparing for his sale this summer.

According to a report by Record, Sporting CP are lining up replacements for Diomande who has a release clause valued around £70m. The report claims Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in his services, who has sent scouts to watch him in action.

Who is Ousmane Diomande?

Diomande is one of the most exciting young centre-backs in European football at the moment.

He came through the ranks at OS Abobo in the Ivory Coast before making the move to Europe with FC Midtjylland.

He spent only a short time in Denmark, featuring only in friendlies for the club’s first team before moving to Mafra on loan in the Portuguese second tier, where he was spotted by Sporting CP and brought to the club.

He is also a regular senior international for his country, and won the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.
