The Cincinnati Bengals made the noteworthy trade for former Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco ahead of Week 6. This came off the heels of Jake Browning throwing eight interceptions in less than four full games under center.

Many were surprised to see the Browns deal Flacco within the division, but Cincinnati made several calls about many different quarterbacks, including at least one retired player. One of those quarterbacks was former Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr.

"One notable option didn’t work out behind the scenes: Derek Carr," Erich Richter of The New York Post reports. "The former Saints quarterback who surprisingly retired this past offseason was among the players that the Bengals attempted to sign in the last few weeks, Derek’s brother, David Carr, revealed."

Carr would have been a very good addition, all things considered, especially if he is still in football shape. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and threw 257 career touchdown passes.
