More infoKris Boyd and Aiden McGeady are on the end of a Celtic fan backlash after making a quip about Jota's emotional reaction to scoring in his Celtic return. The winger made his second Hoops debut in their 3-1 win over Motherwell, with Brendan Rodgers throwing him on as a second half sub.. And Jota marked the occasion by netting in stoppage time to seal the points for the champions in Lanarkshire, tapping home from Daizen Maeda's cross. And the 25-year-old couldn't hold back the tears as he celebrated. The former Benfica starlet has endured a tough 18 months since leaving Parkhead. A record breaking £25million move to Saudi Arabia may have turbocharged his bank balance, but he could barely scrape to start together after being left out of Al-Ittihad's Saudi pro League squad soon after arriving. He eventually returned to Europe with Rennes. but found himself in the bomb squad once again before sealing his Celtic homecoming at the start of this week.McGeady was asked about Jota's return and his tears as he made his way to the celtic end after the full-time whistle, and the ex-Celtic winger replied: "I don't really understand that. Crying? Each to their own. He's obviously emotional coming back to Celtic, somewhere he feels he has a home."Analysing the clinching goal, Boyd quipped: "The only thing missing from that pass from Maeda was a box of tissues." But it hasn;t gone down well with Celtic fans, who have taken to social media to slam the Sky Sports pundit. One said: "Boyd getting his sly wee dig in again. I can guarantee, it'll be him that needs the tissues at the end of the season." Another added: "Kris Boyd’s comment on Jota needing a box of tissues is pretty sad. Are men not allowed to show emotion? More importantly are men in football not allowed to show emotion? No one knows what he has gone through in his career Kris Boyd - don’t be a Neanderthal."McGrady didn't escape either: "What a nasty, mean spirited, classless comment from Aiden McGeady. Should have stayed silent. Jota has more dignity & humility than Aiden ever had. Jota is a true legend (something McGeady will now never be) & so deserving of the No7 shirt."And it kept coming: "Aiden McGeady the most miserable man at Fir Park today. Some feat," before someone else took aim at both, adding: "Aiden McGeady and Kris Boyd should be ashamed of themselves for the comments made on Sky Sports Men’s mental health has always been an issue, especially in football and if young footballers are seeing professionals get laughed at for crying, what message does that send out?"
