India A vs Australia A live score, 1st unofficial ODI: IND A closes in on massive victory after AUS A comes undone against spinners

1
Will Sutherland is closing in on a rapid half-century, having made his way to 45 from just 27 balls, but he is in real danger of running out of partners. Tanveer Sangha is the ninth wicket to fall, caught by Ravi Bishnoi off the bowling of Gurjapneet Singh.

Small wins for Australia A, as Will Sutherland provides a few boundaries to ensure that the margin of defeat will be less than 200. India A’s largest margin of victory in List A cricket is 281 runs, so it has avoided that ignominy.

Australia A is 225/8 at the end of 30 overs.

Australia A captain Will Sutherland lands a few blows of revenge as he races to 20 from just 11 balls.

GONE! Simarjeet Singh returns to the attack, and he picks up the wicket of Todd Murphy, with Riyan Parag taking the catch.

India A is just two wickets away now.

It wasn’t that long ago that Australia A was going well in this chase. Unfortunately, it’s all unravelled pretty quickly as Nishant Sindhu bowls Sam Elliott to make it four wickets for no runs in the last eight balls.

Finally, we have a run! Todd Murphy gets off the mark with a single before Will Sutherland finds the boundary to get off the mark.

Is that another one? It is! A strange dismissal. Harry Dixon misses a cut off Nishant Sindhu, and Prabhsimran takes the bails off. India A appeals and the third umpire gives it out. Looks like he’s been stumped.

Australia A has lost its last three wickets in six balls without scoring a run.

OUT! Ravi Bishnoi has two in two and all of a sudden, the task is starting to look near-impossible for Australia A. Liam Scott is in, and Bishnoi traps him in front first ball.

Australia A has lost half its side now, and still needs another 233 runs.

One more! This time it’s Lachlan Shaw, who holes out to Suryansh Shedge five runs short of his half-century. He goes for a brisk 45 from 32 balls.

Australia A is up against it now at 181/5 in 21.4 overs.

GONE! Nishant Sindhu has taken some tap so far, but he’s made the crucial breakthrough. Mackenzie Harvey goes for a nicely compiled 68 from 62 balls.

Australia A is 169/3 in 20.3 overs.

Lachlan Shaw continues to take on the spinners, this time he targets Bishnoi. Gets a maximum with a pull off his back foot before slashing through covers on the final delivery of the over.

At the end of 20 overs, Australia A is 167/2.

The first drinks break of the innings has been called with Australia A not giving up on this chase. It requires another 259 runs from the remaining 32 overs.

That wicket has not dampened Australia A’s attacking intent. Lachlan Shaw is the new batter, and he welcomes Nishant Sindhu with a slog sweep to clear the mid wicket fence. Sindhu fires the third delivery slightly wider, which is cut between point and short third.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie Harvey has crossed his half-century. Can he make this knock a big one?

16 runs come from Sindhu’s first over, as the tourists stay in touch with the asking rate.

OUT! Ayush Badoni has bowled a frugal spell thus far, and it pays dividends for him now. Prabhsimran makes up for his earlier drop, and Connolly is back in the shed for 33 from 21 balls.

Australia A is 118/2 in 13 overs.

Connolly takes on Ravi Bishnoi also, pulls over deep midwicket and then paddle scoops over the keeper. Prabhsimran Singh hands a reprieve to him in the over, not holding onto an edge off an attempted cut.

How crucial could that prove to be in the game?

The two southpaws - Connolly and Harvey - keep Aus A ahead of the asking rate. Shreyas Iyer opts to bring in Ayush Badoni, who manages to deliver an over without any boundary.

However, at the conclusion of the Powerplay, Australia A is 101/1

Jake Fraser-McGurk gets going against Gurjapneet Singh, thrashing him for five boundaries in a row!

OUT! But he’s gone now, clips to short midwicket against Yudhvir, who has the last laugh. An entertaining knock of 23 from 13 balls comes to an end.

Australia A is 44/1 in five overs.

Fraser-McGurk gets an early lifeline on just 1! He goes for a big heave over the leg-side, and gets a leading edge. Priyansh Arya tracks back from covers, and only gets a hand on it as it goes down.

Tamil Nadu left-armer Gurjapneet Singh has the ball from the other end. He starts well, honing in on a hard length, and the Australian batters can only manage two runs.

Australia A is 10/0 after the first two overs.

414 is an imposing target, but Australia A’s fiery opening partnership of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mackenzie Harvey are out in the middle to get the chase underway. Yudhvir Charak has the new ball for India A.

Harvey gets the first boundary of the innings with a pull for four.

IND A vs AUS A, 1st unofficial ODI: Shreyas, Priyansh centuries push India A to highest List A score at home

India A registered its highest List A score at home against Australia A in the first unofficial ODI between the two sides at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur on Wednesday

India A finishes at 413/6 in 50 overs. An excellent attacking batting led by Shreyas Iyer and Priyansh Arya. Some brilliant cameos by Prabhsimran Singh, Riyan Parag and Ayush Badoni.

Badoni falls two balls after his fifty, trying to upper cut a slower bouncer, ends up picking short third.

Two off two for Sutherland, a slower bouncer to welcome Suryansh Shedge, who tries to upper cut it at the last second, hands a catch to Lachlan Shaw.

Fifty for Ayush Badoni with a reverse paddle 4 against Sutherland. He gets it off just 25 balls.

Australia getting a grip of things since Shreyas’ departure. Just 14 runs in the 11 deliveries and one boundary since his wicket.

IND A vs AUS A, 1st unofficial ODI: Shreyas Iyer scores 110 on India A return

Shreyas Iyer marked his return to the India A side with a blistering 75-ball century against Australia A in the 1st unofficial ODI at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur on Wednesday.

Shreyas OUT! It takes a one-handed blinder at the boundary to get rid of him. Mackenzie Harvey grabs this at deep midwicket, pops the ball into the air as he crosses over the rope, comes back in and grabs it. He made 110 off 83 balls.

This is already India A’s highest List-A score on Indian soil. Previous best was 371/3 vs South Africa A in 2015.

Straker is spot on with his yorkers in the 45th over, allows just six runs off five balls before Badoni unfurls an inventive ramp shot between keeper and short fine leg for four runs.

Badoni now with a slog sweep against Will Sutherland. Gets down on one knee, gets in line and picks this full delivery over midwicket.

A century in just 75 balls for Shreyas Iyer, batting at number three. His innings has included four sixes and 11 fours.

Shreyas first with a chip over covers off Sangha for 4. All boundary riders on the leg side for him. He swats the next ball over the bowler’s head for a 6. He’s on 83 off 68 now.

Boundary riders for Riyan Parag across the leg side as Todd Murphy comes back. Aus A going with a deep square leg, deep midwicket and long on against Riyan.

Murphy gets the dangerous Riyan Parag. He cleverly bowls wide of off, knowing Riyan’s inclination to hit across the line over midwicket, holes out at long on. 67 off 42 for him. Ind A 307/3 in 40.4. Badoni next in.

Only 39 overs and India already has 300-up on board with Shreyas and Riyan on cruise control.

Riyan Parag quickly gets to his fifty off just 32 balls with the help of four sixes and three fours.

Parag with a pull off his back foot against Cooper Connolly, lands on the second tier above the dressing rooms.

Riyan Parag causes another delay, this time his six lands beyond the longer side of the ground, and the ball once again is lost somewhere in the seats. A massive over for India A as Connolly gives away 18 runs here.

Shreyas Iyer scores fifty in 50 balls with help of two sixes and seven fours.

Another boundary for Shreyas. He walks across his stumps to get inside the line, hooks Liam Scott over the short fine leg fielder. Now on 35 off 39.

Riyan at the other rotating strike, presumably saving himself for a surge in another five to 10 overs. “And right on cue to show how little I know, Riyan unleashes a slog sweep against Sangha, picks a maximum,” Abhishek says.

Shreyas Iyer is getting into his groove. He picked his first 4 off an edge against Sangha, was dropped on 12 by keeper Shaw. But he’s now punched Elliot for back-to-back 4s through mid on. Batting on 28 off 31 right now.

IND A 194/2 in 29 overs

Priyansh Arya hits 82-ball hundred as India A takes on Australia A in 1st unofficial ODI

Priyansh Arya smashed an 82-ball century during the first India A vs Australia A unofficial ODI at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Wednesday.

Shreyas Iyer is dropped on 12. He tries to nudge a length ball from Sam Elliot towards deep third but ends up playing it too close to the keeper. Lachlan Shaw dives to his right but cannot hold onto the chance, runs away to the fence.

Priyansh Arya reached his century in 82 balls.

However, Priyansh is out right after his ton. He tries to whack Sangha down the ground, fluffs it and long off runs in to complete a diving catch.

Shreyas Iyer getting his eye in. His first boundary is a bit streaky, tries to cut Sangha without much room, edges it through the vacant slip region. The lack of turn is probably why Sangha not opting for a slip.

Priyansh Arya undaunted by the wicket. He pulls Straker for a four over midwicket and follows it up with a hook for a maximum.

IND A 146/1 in 21 overs

Priyansh now takes on Murphy. Three boundaries in the over, which includes a drive through covers and a sweep over the short fine fielder.

IND 122/0 in 19 overs

Half-a-chance! Prabhsimran dances down the wicket to Connolly and hits straight back at the bowler, Connolly creeps low and tries for a catch but the ball bursts through his hands and reaches the fence. On the very next delivery, charges down again and hits the ball into the sightscreen.

Both batters also reach their fifties in this over.

IND 108/0 in 18 overs

A neat start from Todd Murphy. He’s bowled stump to stump and made both India A batters play off the front foot. But Aus A needs someone to consolidate from the other end too. India A running free here and looking towards a big score.

IND A 91/0 in 16 overs

Had been waiting for an across-the-line heave from Priyansh Arya, and he goes for it against Sam Elliot after facing a maiden from Liam Scott. He gets a hard length ball and pulls it, just about clearing the deep square leg fielder. We have the first maximum of the innings.

IND A 72/0 in 12 overs

India takes the opening phase. The batters have not had to play a single ambitious, aerial slog; all boundaries coming with textbook shots. The short boundaries in the V making it all the more easier.

IND A 62/0 in 10 overs

We have the first slower delivery already in the seventh over. Liam Scott sees Prabhsimran charge at him and he rolls his fingers and drags the length back. Just a single off his over.

IND A 34/0 in 7 overs

Nothing in the air or off the surface for the Aussie quicks so far. They’ve only contained the batters so far when they’ve bowled at the stumps.

Plenty to pick on for the India A pair. Priyansh drove an overpitched delivery from Sutherland for a boundary. Prabhsimran then gets another full ball from Straker, which is driven wide of mid on. He then takes on the longer boundary with a flick off his pads, gets another boundary in the same over.

Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran open for India A. Priyansh gets off the mark with a cut, plenty of width on offer from Tom Straker and gets punished.
