Australia vs British & Irish Lions - Test series RECAP: Score, team news and updates as Andy Farrell's FAIL to achieve Wallabies whitewash after losing final clash in a lightning-affected clash

In recent years, the Wallabies have struggled, with their group-stage exit at the 2023 Rugby World Cup being indicative of the side’s woes.

However, under the stewardship of Joe Schmidt, Australia have bounced back and are well and truly trending upwards once again.

This victory tonight shows just how good they can be, beating a full-strength Lions side. They’ll now go on to take on South Africa in the Rugby Championship in the next two weeks, which will present another intriguing challenge for this young side to grow.

Today, performances from Harry Wilson, Tate McDermott, and Dylan Pietsch showcased how much talent this team has available to them.

They will, though, be losing one of their greatest stars, with Nic White stepping away from international rugby tonight after 73 appearances in the green and gold jersey.

As for the Lions, they didn’t quite impress tonight, and may be suffering from a bit of fatigue after being away from home for over a month. But they will be overjoyed with how they’ve played throughout the tour.

Finn Russell has been excellent in controlling their attack. Tadhg Beirne has been colossal at the breakdown. Tom Curry, who returns home for surgery on a wrist injury, has been a tackling monster.

And there have been some memorable moments too. From Hugo Keenan’s last-gasp try, to the Lions playing cricket out on the MCG pitch.

We’ll be signing off on here for now, but if you’re still after your rugby fix, head over to Daily Mail Sport Rugby here.

See you in New Zealand in 2029!
